The Duke Boutique Hotel is located in an old post office in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. In 1896, the post office and telegraph office opened its doors. The post had to be brought around by horse and cart, between the Kerkstraat and Central Station. In 1938, a new office opened close to the Central Station to improve the logistics – but still, there was a lack of space in the Kerkstraat. In the 1960s, the idea came to completely demolish the building and to purchase additional buildings in the Kerkstraat and the Korte Putstraat \u2013 so a larger new post office could be built.<\/p>\n

This new post office opened in 1971, but people weren\u2019t too happy about it. For years there were complaints about the appearance of this ‘grey’ building and the amount of traffic at this central location in the city. After the post company left the building, the building was finally renovated in 2010. The old fa\u00e7ade has partly been left standing and the new fa\u00e7ade has been built a meter further to the front. This has led to the building having a friendlier and more modern look.<\/p>\n

In our Deluxe Rooms, Junior Suites and in the St. John suite you can still find beautiful old characteristics of the 1971 post office. We kept the old ceiling intact, as well as the concrete fronts.<\/p>\n
